Benjamin N. Waber, Daniel Olguín Olguín, Taemie Kim, and Alex (Sandy) Pentland utilize the Sociometric badge to evaluate the behavior of two organizations. As a result of these two studies, they found that physical proximity had a high negative correlation with email communication and communication patterns (digital and face-to-face combined) could accurately predict employees’ self-assessments on satisfaction and performance. In both cases, wearable sensing technology was critical in predicting organizational outcomes.
